PHILIPSBURG:--- An employee of GEBE who was hired through a job placement agency for about four years now and has been working at GEBE Power Plant in Cape Bay was suspended on Tuesday after the company’s internal investigation showed that he is allegedly involved in the theft of two truck-loads of copper that was stolen from GEBE. The employee was not fired but suspended pending the ongoing investigations.
According to information reaching SMN News the Placement Agency was informed of the company’s decision on Tuesday.
SMN News reported earlier that GEBE Supervisory Board already questioned management on the hiring of workers through these placement agencies especially for workers that are holding permanent jobs and are given numerous contracts. One of the questions on the table at GEBE right now is how could a person that has a license to operate an Architect and Construction Company was allowed to use her company as a placement agency. Inside sources at GEBE said that the Human Resource Manager was having an illicit affair with this person thus giving her special privileges to hire mostly Domincanos that are currently working at GEBE. However, the employee that was sent home on Tuesday does not work for that company that belong to his sister but was working under another placement agency who also provides workers for GEBE.
According to information SMN News received states that both the contractor and the management of GEBE have decided to file criminal complaints against the former Chief Operations Officer Romelio Maduro. Maduro hired the contractor verbally to demolish six old engines in exchange for the copper and old engines. However, the copper which was supposed to be sold to pay the contractor and his workers was stolen thus leaving the persons empty handed.
