Officer Gamali Benjamin Transitioned early Saturday Afternoon.

benjamino5082015CAY Hill:--- Relatives and members of the police force of St. Maarten (KPSM) are now dealing with the stark reality of losing one of their loved ones. Bike Patrol Gamali Benjamin who was shot on Wednesday passed away at the St. Maarten Medical Center just after 1pm on Saturday.
SMN News managed to confirm slain officer who was flown back to St. Maarten on Friday after doctors in the in the Dominican Republic diagnosed that Officer Benjamin was brain dead and non-responsive to medical treatment passed away on Saturday. A close relative of the family said that Officer Benjamin’s body was taken to the Royal Funeral Home where family members are busy making funeral arrangements.
SMN News learnt that several officers of KPSM are now distraught and may need some sort of counselling now that their friend and colleague died from gunshot wounds he sustained when he marched in Ore Diamante where an armed robbery was taking place. So far police arrested one of two suspects and the brother of the suspect in custody.
Police is still searching for the second suspect who managed to escape from the scene on Wednesday.
