PHILIPSBURG:---The consumer price index for Sint Maarten has increased in the month of June 2015 by 0.3 percent compared to that of April 2015.
When comparing average consumer prices over a twelve month period (June 2014 to Jun. 2015), an increase of 1.2 percent was recorded compared to the same period one year earlier.
This is evident from the data released by the Department of Statistics (STAT) today. Price changes between June & April 2015
The consumer price index for Sint Maarten has increased in the month of June 2015 by 0.3 percent compared to that of April 2015. The price index recorded in June 2015 is 126.7.

Expenditure Categories – overall modest increases
In June 2015, six of the nine expenditure categories became marginally more expensive, whilst three became cheaper. Amongst the more expensive were the categories; ‘Food’ (+1.1%), ‘Beverages and Tobacco’ (+0.1%), ‘Housing’ (+0.2%), ‘Medical Care’ (+0.1%),
‘Transport & Communication’ (+0.6%) and ‘Miscellaneous’ (+0.2%). Whereas decreases were recorded for the expenditure categories ‘Clothing and Footwear’ and ‘Household Furnishing & Appliances’ and ‘Recreation & Education’ of -0.8%, -0.2% and -0.1% respectively.
