How credible would SOAB Reports be if they sacrifice one of their own employees to secure contracts?
PHILIPSBURG:--- A 34 year old senior employee of SOAB was asked by her employers to resign from the Supervisory Board of GEBE since that is one of the requirements the current Gumbs cabinet in order for the firm to secure the contracts to conduct forensic and internal audits at GEBE, PJIAE, the SMHGC and TELEM. The government of St. Maarten claim they will clean up house starting with government owned companies. While their intentions might be sound, how is it possible for government to dictate to this company to remove one of their senior accountants from the supervisory board who have been trying to clean up the mess they found at GEBE? One would think having an employee on the supervisory board would help SOAB gather valuable information to provide a sound report with facts, but it seems as though the client (government) will dictate to SOAB what they want in the reports from GEBE and not facts.
Sources close to the supervisory board of GEBE said the employee was contacted on Thursday and even three persons from government visited her to let her know that is one of the requirements of government in order for SOAB to get the contracts. SMN News learnt that the employee has agreed to resign from the Supervisory Board in order to please her employers.
The question now remains as to how credible the reports from SOAB would be if they are willing to do whatever their clients ask of them including sacrificing one of their own. One major concern at this moment is if the Government of St. Maarten would have any influence on the investigation and reporting in order for government to use to victimize other workers of GEBE that are not doing what they want.
