President reports the opening of the school year to Rector

MARIGOT:--- Two days after the opening of the 2015-2016 school year, President Aline Hanson met with the Rector, Camille Galap, and his team at the Collectivite to discuss the negatives/positive of the opening school year, noted, went very well.
Several issues were discussed during the meeting including:
-the back to school preparations for the new public school, which will open after the Christmas break.
-the fight against illiteracy by the inclusion of mother tongues in schools
-the development of post BAC courses in Saint-Martin
The Rector stated that much interest exist for the inclusion of bilingual students. He established two working groups to strengthen the issue and make concrete proposals. Amongst the ideas mentioned by the Rector Galap, routine evaluations of students could be considered in order to enhance their linguistic potential; new teachers to the area, may obtain a training program taking into account the general languages.
President Aline Hanson stated that all applications from St. Martin should be given top priority in order to form a local pool of teachers. The Rector assured the President of his determination to see the Saint-Martiners’ included in the academic policy. The Collectivite and Rector also considered the creation of post BAC courses that meet the needs of the area. To begin, the creation of a BTS management assistant course could be put in place.
