Sucker Garden:---- The first week of the Ladies Basketball Championship was packed with 5 games to entertain the fans that came out to support their favorite team.
The first 3 games were between 3 U16 Teams namely Learning Unlimited, Lightning and Thunderz. Each team played against the two other teams with a running clock of 15 minutes. In the first game, Learning Unlimited beat Lightning 6-4 with Aesha Gibson leading the way with 4 points. The second game Lightning played Thunderz and won in overtime 10-6 lead by Kayla Robinson with 6 points. The last game in this division was between Learning Unlimited and Thunderz and Thunderz won 14-6 with Aisha Carty leading the way with 10 points.
Later, the Senior Division which consist of Bush T Remedy, Learning Unlimited, Lightning and Thunderz played two entertaining games. The first game of this division was between Learning Unlimited and Lightning. Lightning started off strong and lead 35-18 at the half and while Learning Unlimited got within 10 in the second half Lightning recovered and won 58-43. Lightning was led by Player of the Game Jamaiah Newton-Herbert with 28 points and was supported by Jonelle Richardson with 10 points. Learning Unlimited was led by Jakisha Brooks with 11 points and Wendy Jack with 10 points.
Game 2 was between Bush T Remedy and Thunderz and Thunderz started off strong and lead 34 -17 at the half. Bush T Remedy played the Thunderz pretty evenly in the second half but the first half deficit was too much to recover from. Thunderz won the game 58-35 and was led by player of the game Chantel Hodge with 35 points. Bush T Remedy was led by Jacqueline Hodge with 12 points and Shadella Williams with 9 points.
Games continue this Sunday for the senior teams at 3pm as Lightning take on Bush T Remedy and at 5pm Thunderz VS Learning Unlimited. Entrance fee is $1 and food and drinks are on sale, so see you next Sunday!!
