PHILIPSBURG:--- The Police Department received numerous calls from persons in the community on Thursday December 10th regarding a public notice that was posted on “Whatsap” early in the morning. The notice stated that the community should be careful and be on the lookout for three or for men identifying themselves as workers from the water and electrical company who are there to install shower caps to save water or install electric energy saving bulbs for free as part government lay down program. The broadcast continued to state that these persons have been spotted in many areas and these persons should not be let into your home. These persons are robbers robbing people at gunpoint.
The police department is informing the community that we do not have any official reports, complaints or records of any person or groups of persons regarding this type of suspicious behavior. The police department nevertheless, takes this type of situations very seriously and will immediately start an investigation to establish the validity of this information.
The police department is taking this opportunity to warn the community to be very alert if they should be confronted with this type of situation and immediately inform the police department.
