PHILIPSBURG:--- As the date of December 15 approaches and the question whether we will have elections on February 9, 2016 or not remains uncertain, the role of the Governor needs to be very clear.
The Governor is the representative of the Crown, in this case King Willem Alexander, and the monarchy cannot and should not be compromised.
I believe this puts our current situation in a peculiar light.
This is not just about us or just about Sint Maarten.
Democracy must be protected in the name of the King and Democracy must reign.
