PHILIPSBURG:--- Suspended principal of the John A Gumbs Campus of the Methodist Agogic Center Cedric Hodge had his pretrial detention extended by 60 days on Monday confirmed Prosecutor Lemmers. Hodge was arrested on December 4th 2015 and was slapped with four charges of sexual misconduct after the prosecution found enough evidence on his electronics that were seized when his home was searched on September 18th 2015.
The well-known principal got into trouble with the law when a teenage boy asked his mother to go to a hotel to meet Hodge with whom he was texting earlier that night. The mother who got suspicious immediately took her son phone away and saw the conversation her son was having with the school principal. Even though enraged at what she saw the mother went to police the following morning with her son’s telephone and filed an official complaint against Cedric Hodge.
SMN News understands that the police even kept the victim’s telephone was texting Hodge prior to conducting a search at his Dawn Beach home on September 18th 2015 and confiscated a number of electronic items. The same day Hodge was detained and subsequently released, but the prosecutor’s office decided to re-arrest Hodge on December 4th 2015 when they found enough evidence to show that he had committed sexual crimes with minors.
Both the police and prosecution had issued a call to the general public urging them to come forward if they had any information that could assist them with the ongoing investigation. A call was also issued especially to possible victims who did not file a complaint with the police prior to the arrest of the school principal.
