PHILIPSBURG:--- The Constitutional Court denied Lisa Alexander her request on Thursday and referred her to the Ombudsman of St. Maarten. The Court informed Alexander that they do not have the jurisdiction to deal with cases that were filed by citizens, instead only cases filed by the Ombudsman.
Alexander said that despite the decision of the Court she will continue to fight her battle. She said she agreed with the decisions of the court but believes that the national decree to hold elections was published too late. Alexander a former USP member and candidate wanted to have elections held on February 9th 2016.
