PHILIPSBURG:--- All is set for the St. Maarten Lions Club’s 8th Annual Lion Rudy Hoeve Health & Wellness Fair scheduled for this Saturday March 5th 2016 from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM at the Festival Village in Philipsburg. Twenty five(25) organizations, foundations, health care providers, health support groups as well as professionals will occupy some 40 booths and a conference room to present to the general public a vast variety of health care services, tests, information and also information on wellness.
The community is also invited to visit the presentations in the conference room of the Festival Village on: Adequate administering of prescribed medication and building a lifestyle in accordance with the medication you use. This presentation will be provided from 10.30 AM – 12.30 PM by Pharmacist Dick Luttekes. At 2.00 PM Civil-Law Notary Meredith Boekhoudt will speak on How, Why and When to make a Will and also the changes in the Inheritance Law. At 3.00 PM Pediatrician Dr. Pieter Offringa will speak on the misconceptions of Asthma and Allergy on Sint Maarten.
The interest for the Fair has grown tremendously and several additional services have been added to the Fair. The St. Maarten Diabetes Foundation besides offering their usual tests will also fly in a Podiatrist to check the feet of people. The public is urged to make good use of this opportunity as the island does not have a podiatrist.
The Tsu Chi Foundation will be carrying out 100 massages this year that will be 40 more than last year. The St. Maarten Aids Foundation will for the 8th consecutive year be part of the Fair and will carry out AIDS tests throughout the day. Love of Kids Foundation is also a participant since the very beginning and will have information on dyslexia. Alpha Health Care will be demonstrating all their health care items which are available, ENABLE, holistic occupational therapy will provide their information and Less Screen more play will be available for the children.
The Sickle Cell Foundation will once again carry out tests and give information while the Alzheimer Foundation is well known for their memory tests. The Youth Health Preventive Care section of the Public Health Dept. will carry out various demonstrations. The St. Maarten Medical Center will give dialyses demonstrations as well as information alongside with the Kidney Foundation which will be concentrating on how to prevent kidney failure.
Inner Harmony will once more carry out a number of tests and demonstrate several supplements available at their clinic. The Mental Health Foundation will be also onsite and the Down Syndrome Foundation & Sister Basilia Center will concentrate on giving information to those interested in learning how to deal with down syndrome in addition to also giving demonstrations.\
The White & Yellow Cross Foundation, will concentrate on child vaccination, WIEMS always presents demonstrations to the public about emergency situations, SZV will also be part of the Fair and together with the Public Health Dept. will be carrying out certain tests in the Health Bus. Natures Discount will be present with all sorts of health products and the Parkinson Foundation has a wealth of information about this illness.
A newly established foundation of Psychologists on the island will also be part of the Fair as well as the just newly sworn in Physiotherapist while Henderson Insurances is offering information to the public on all sorts of insurance packages. All services, information and demonstrations and hand-outs are FREE OF CHARGE.
Minister of Health Emil Lee has confirmed to be part of the Fair and has also promised to promote the Fair and St. Maarten Lions Club are also extending an invitation to all other Ministers and members of Parliament to attend and promote the Fair as well.
