PHILIPSBURG:--- The management of Alegria Hotel and members of the DSTA got into a heated argument on Thursday when the hotel manager informed DSTA members that were on their premises that they were not allowed to dispatch tourists on their property. SMN News understands that Alegria manager made clear that she was not aware of the new policies implemented by the DSTA and in her view all taxi drivers are equal and they all deserve to work.
SMN News further learned that one of DSTA members threatened a security guard at Alegria and police were also called in
Bystanders mostly taxi drivers said the president of the DSTA and employees of the Transportation department headed down to Alegria to discuss what was taking place at the business place.
Up to late Thursday evening, the head of the transportation department Lucien Wilson neither the Secretary General of Economic Affairs Miguel de Weever could not be reached for a comment.
