PHILIPSBURG;--- The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) and Scotia Bank are together again, continuing a partnership that has spanned more than two decades. Scotiabank is once again one of Carnival’s most prominent corporate partners for Carnival 2018 and, according to SCDF President Alston Lourens, the foundation could not be happier that it could still count on the bank despite challenging circumstances.
The bank is again the main partner for the Carnival schedule of events which are now available on island and is being distributed. The bank also covered the cost of the uniform shirts of the Carnival foundation board members and its volunteer committee members.
Selma Baker of Scotiabank said: “Scotiabank welcomes the opportunity to renew our commitment to St. Maarten’s Carnival. We know many persons here on the island and overseas are eagerly looking forward to this year’s celebration. On behalf of Scotiabank, I would like to thank foundation for its efforts and at the same time with the community and visitors a happy and safe Carnival. Let the event this year be a true celebration of life and culture.”
Added Lourens: “It is good to know that despite the devastation by the hurricanes, we can still count on the support of Scotiabank. This year we will all celebrate life and we are happy that Scotia is here with us. Next year is our 50th and we look forward to doing something special with the bank.”
