~ Suspect surrendered.~
PHILIPSBURG:---At least one person is dead due to a shooting on Pond Island while the shooter has surrendered to police said acting police spokesman E.S "Joe" JOSEPHA.
The police spokesman said the case is currently being investigated and as soon as he has more information he will share it with the media.
Shooting on Sualiga Road.
On Thursday, October 3rd, 2019 approximately 11.00, the dispatch center received a call concerning a shooting that took place on the Soualiga Road. The police patrol and the personnel of the Ambulance department encountered two male victims whose identity is currently still unknown.
One male victim had sustained a gunshot wound but was not showing any signs of life and the second victim who had also been shot and was in need of medical assistance. The Ambulance personnel treated the second victim on the scene before taking him to the Saint. Maarten Medical Center in serious condition for further treatment.
Shortly after this shooting incident, a male suspect with initials A.R. turned himself into the Philipsburg Police Station as the shooter. The suspect was immediately arrested and handed over to the detective department for further interrogation. The investigation is ongoing.
