PHILIPSBURG:--- On Friday, November 22nd, the Mental Health Foundation (MHF) organized its annual Family Fun, Thanksgiving Dinner at the Belair Community Center!
All the clients of the MHF and their families were invited for a delicious thanksgiving dinner provided by YUMYUM catering. With steel pan musical entertainment, a photo booth supplied by PictureThis, a Bingo and performance of the traditional Sint Maarten Ponum dance, it’s safe to say that the evening was a success!
All 56 persons had a great time, and emphasized their wish to do this much more often! Some even suggested every week! ‘’It’s just so nice to come together and spend some quality time, and get to know the MHF staff, other clients and their families’’ one of the family members said.
The MHF organizes this every year to bring together its clients and their family. Besides having a beautiful thanksgiving night full of entertainment, it provides the family to get to know the staffs who are working with the clients daily. A client’s family and social environment are essential in the recovery and treatment of clients. With this event, the MHF likes to express its gratitude for the daily efforts of the families and their advocacy against the stigma on Mental Health.
