~iFounded 2020 focuses on identifying and supporting high-impact businesses on Curacao and St. Maarten~
PHILIPSBURG:--- Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) is an international celebration of entrepreneurship in more than 180 countries around the world during the 3rd week of November. This year, the country hosts of Curaçao and Sint Maarten are coming together to host the islands’ first joint virtual pitch competition, iFounded 2020 during November 16-20. iFounded is designed to attract high-impact businesses that can support socioeconomic resilience while connecting them to local and international influential business leaders.
On October 1, the application opens. The basic requirements are that 1) the business should be registered at Chamber of Commerce (an excerpt of this year will be requested) on either Curaçao or Sint Maarten, 2) the business should be no more than 3 years old, and 3) the business should be able to demonstrate that it can create high-impact both socially and economically. These businesses include those in the digital, social, creative, and green economies.
The application period will close on October 30 at 11:59PM AST. Thereafter, twenty (20) semi-finalists will be chosen to take part in the virtual bootcamp (November 16-19), where they will work on business strategies and refine their pitch with top business leaders. A final six (6) will get an opportunity to pitch on November 20. The pitch competition will be streamed live on social media so that entrepreneurs and supporters alike can get to experience it. Ultimately, there will be one (1) winner from each island, who will among other things, win mentorship and coaching from our notable partners to support their business growth and gain significant exposure both locally and internationally. International and local networks have been engaged in order to support this project and help to provide the cash prizes as well as coaching and mentoring in the aftermath of this project.
This project is unique as it brings together key stakeholders in the interest of entrepreneurs on both islands. Collaborative partners include Centrale Bank van Curaçao en Sint Maarten (CBCS), Curaçao Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KvK), GEW Host Curaçao, Elgenia Pieternella of Fundashon Negoshi Pikiña (FNP) and the lead coordinator, GEW Host Sint Maarten, Ife Badejo of Produce Wealth Revolution (PWR) Agency.
