MULLET BAY:--- Under sunny skies and perfectly manicured green fairways, 83 golfers wearing Santa hats and dressed in colorful Santa outfits, took over Mullet Bay Golf Course on Saturday while participating in the 2020 annual Santa Scramble.
The annual Santa Scramble tournament organized by the St. Maarten Golf Association was again a tremendous success. This year the annual December event was enjoyed by 21 teams of four members each.
Strict adherence to Covid-19 related social distancing was maintained throughout the event by spreading the teams over the entire golf course.
After 4 hours of uninterrupted joyful celebrations over great shots and missed opportunities, the winner of this year’s Santa Scramble was the team of Jonathan Haillant, Nicolas Leobold, Gill Leblanc Moriniere, and Louis Assier de Pompignan who ended the 18 holes stroke play event with a total score of 57 low net.
Second prize was won by the team of Kasper Lendering, Paul Dijkhoffz, Thomas Zorn and Marc Groeneveld with a score of 61 low net. Third prize was taken by the team consisting of Maarten van der Waart, Trevor da Costa, Hans van Mameren and Frank Carter with a score of 61 low net as well.
Prizes were given out after the event with a Raffle and Live Auction.
The St. Maarten Golf Association is a non-profit organization that welcomes all beginning and experienced golfers, tourists and St. Maarten / St. Martin residents alike to become members.
