We Lounge to be closed for one week and also given hefty fine.

omarottley14062021PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Public Health and Labor Omar Ottley confirmed on Wednesday at the Council of Minister's weekly press briefing that We Lounge night club will be closed for one week for several violations such as opening after the 11 pm curfew that remains in place while they will receive a maximum fine for the violations.
Ottley said that when the government implemented the 11 pm curfew for business closures certain penalties were put in place but there is a process in which these penalties will be implemented, one being warnings either verbal or written before being fined or imprisonment. In the case of We Lounge, the Minister said the club was given several warnings prior to Sunday night event, thus KPSM has prepared a process verbal and sent it to the Prosecutor’s Office for execution. Ottley said Sunday night event borders on endangerment and fire hazards besides the actual incident where someone was injured after the closing hours.
Ottley said that during the early hours of Monday morning an incident occurred at We Lounge where police were called. He said when police reached the scene they were locked out, which creates endangerment.
The fines will be issued by the Ministry of Justice while the closing of the establishment will be done by the Ministry of TEATT.
