PHILIPSBURG:--- The Lions International Peace Poster Contest has been officially launched on the 21st of August under the theme "We are all Connected". Young persons who will be 11, 12, or 13 years of age on November 15th, 2021 can participate in the contest. Eligible birth dates are November 16th, 2007 up to and including November 15th, 2010. The deadline for the contest has been extended from November 1st to now Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021. Prizes for the competition include:
1st Prize: "Arteza Art Set", which includes an assortment of Watercolors, Graniteville and color pencils, oil pastels, finalize, pens, brushes, white gel pens, and mixed media paper.
2nd Prize: 155 pieces Deluxe Artist Painting Set, which includes a French easel, art paintbrush set, paint tube set, painting pads, stretched canvas, palette knives for acrylic, oil, watercolors.
3rd prize: A two months - all-paid - art class with Tess Verheij of the Art Craft Café.
Winners of this year's peace poster will be announced via the Sint Maarten Lions Club Facebook page on November 5th, 2021 at 6 pm. The person who wins the first prize will go on to compete at District Level, with their poster competing against other winners across the Multiple District during the Lions convention on November 14th, 2021.
Participants are reminded to kindly submit their artwork at the Lions Civic Center, located in Suckergarden, next to the SOL Gas Station.
