PHILIPSBURG:---The St. Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) today announced its renewed cooperation with International Liquor & Tobacco Trading (ILTT) on The St. Maarten Event Calendar! The partners are calling on all companies, organizers, and NGO’s to share planned events for 2022 before November 5th, 2021.
Each iteration of the popular Calendar is spread widely both on the island, abroad and via online channels. In addition to its well-known A0 size, the calendar will be showcased in SHTA's official in-room magazine VISIT St. Maarten. As with each edition, a free copy of the calendar can be obtained by residents and visitors via contacting the SHTA offices.
As a result of its first call for events to SHTA membership, a record amount of events already forms a solid base for the busiest event calendar of its six editions thus far. Since the inception of the project in 2017, the calendar has become a recognizable visual sighted on St. Maarten and beyond, with its distinctive “Lego Block Look” designed by local artist Loic Bryan. The calendar is often used by foreign representatives, influencers, and Caribbean organizations to promote St. Maarten’s liveliness and the diversity offers.
Tradition has it that a St Maarten / St Martin cultural icon features the calendar. All-round Culture icon Clara Reyes and prominent steelpan musician Isidore "Dow" York were the St Maarten cultural professionals featured on the 2020 and 2021 editions respectively. This year's cultural icon will be announced shortly.
As the pandemic situation continues to ask for caution, the calendar will again address special guidelines for events like mask-wearing and social distancing for visitors of events small and large. Even though optimism is in place for 2022 as a year of return, SHTA will underline all listed events are subject to change as health safety will remain of the greatest importance.
SHTA and ILTT hope the 2022 calendar serves as a symbol to the community and visitors that Sint Maarten remains an open, vibrant, and dynamic place. Manager Roel Kokkelmans (ILTT) “ILTT stands proud of this year’s long cooperation with the St Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association to jointly show how vibrant our island is, a unique feature!”
In addition to ILTT’s world-famous brands Captain Morgan, Smirnoff Vodka, and Johnnie Walker Scotch, SHTA thanks Grant Thornton, TelEm Group, the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau, and the Office du Tourisme de St Martin for making The 2022 St. Maarten Event Calendar possible.
