PHILIPSBURG:--- The function book for justice work will be finalized and signing is expected to take place before the year ends. So said Minister of Justice Anna Richardson. The Minister said that the function book is now being reviewed by the final phase before the signing takes place. While the Minister said that signature will soon take place, she did not give a date as to when it will be inked.
Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs also said that the finalization of the function book is one of the government's main priorities. The Prime Minister explained that the function book preparation required a lot of collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of General Affairs since it is a national decree with special measures that require the signatures to be affixed.
Jacobs said the law has to be signed off by the Minister of Justice and Governor Eugene Holiday but before the signing takes place the necessary checks and balances on the legal positions especially for police workers take place.
In an invited comment the Minister said that the government is doing all it can to ensure that the extra funds are in place to make the necessary salary adjustments for justice workers when the function book is finalized and in place. She said while there aren’t budgets in place as yet every effort is made to ensure the operations of the police and other justice workers continue.
