PHILIPSBURG:--- After a three-week-long donation drive, executed by NAGICO Insurances, amongst their staff, brokers, and clients, several large boxes of non-perishable food items, toys, and clothing for children and adults were presented to Safe Haven on Wednesday morning.
“Throughout the year we contribute financially to several non-profit organizations and Causes because this is part of who we are at NAGICO,” Managing Director and Head of NAGICO St. Maarten Operations; Eric Ellis explains. “However, at Christmas, it becomes a bit more special, because it is celebrated as the season of giving and we wanted to do so in a more personal and significant way.”
NAGICO launched an internal campaign in November, with the objective being, to bring some joy to the clients at Safe Haven.
“I have always liked this quote, which says “We cannot help everyone, but everyone can help someone,” Ellis said. “We have been blessed with so much as individuals and sometimes, it is easy to forget those amongst us, who are struggling and may not be as fortunate as we are, so in a joint effort, this is a project we wanted to personally execute and I am very proud of my team of staff, Brokers and some of our clients, who responded so generously.”
The donation yielded 7 large boxes, which were handed over to the Director of Safe Haven, Vanessa Fraser at NAGICO’s Head Office.
“We are truly touched by this significant contribution from NAGICO,” she said. “Earlier this year NAGICO came on board with us as a partner and pledged their support, we are happily surprised to see that they meant it literally. We as an organization are very grateful and are certain that these items will go a far way in helping our clients we currently have at our Shelter.”
The boxes were transported by members of the Police Force, to Safe Haven’s Shelter.
