FINSO promised to pay contractors and vendors in time for Christmas.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Labor and Public Health Omar Ottley confirmed on Wednesday at the Council of Ministers press briefing that he received confirmation from the contractors of the New General Hospital that they will try to make the overdue payments to contractors and vendors before the Christmas Holiday.
The Minister also confirmed that several persons contacted him raising concerns about the non-payment from FINSO. Ottley said just over a week ago his office was contacted and he in turn made contact with the contractor who assured him that they did not have a problem with finances but in fact, were encountering problems transferring money to St. Maarten for the payments to be made.
SMN News was contacted over 3 weeks ago and made several attempts to contact the managers of FINSO but they never answered their phones.
The construction of the New General Hospital and its previous contractor INSO came under scrutiny when it was discovered that the Italian company and its parent company went bankrupt that led to the sale of INSO to FINSO.
