Philipsburg:--- The Sint Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association (SHTA) is happy to announce the launch of its Dollar a Day Program Facebook page.The SHTA have decided that the Dollar a Day Program also needs its own Facebook Page where the public can Like the Dollar a Day Facebook page and receive updates on the program and receive information on how they can contribute towards the Dollar a Day Program.
It's important to know that the Dollar a Day Program was launched by The Sint Maarten Hospitality and Trade Association in January 2000 with the objective of creating an educational, environmental, marketing and development fund for Sint Maarten. How it works is by charging every tourist that stays by any of our member hotels a$ 1, - a day for the remainder of their stay. This money in turn goes towards investing in our most precious resources; the Social and Economic Development of our youths, Marketing our Tourism product, and supporting environmental protection programs and programs that are aimed at creating a safe environment in which our children can learn such as after school programs.
Executive Director for SHTA Alfred Harley said that the hotels must be commended for their contribution because they are a key part of making the Dollar A Day program possible. He said SHTA was sincerely grateful for the continued effort of the hotels for making sure that the guests were aware of what the Dollar A Day Program was about.
He said, "Our ability to continue supporting various community service development programs depended largely on the hotels. This is also true regarding our ability to market the island, and I am truly pleased that they have been able to see the benefit in making the Dollar A Day program successful."
