Opposing political parties sanctioned by voters on Sunday.

rsmawinning28032022MARIGOT:--- Generation Hope, Saint Martin Avec Vous, and Avenir Saint-Martin received a huge sanction on Sunday when voters went to the polls in the run-off of the election of the Territorial Council.
Based on the results the two latter parties did not give Generation Hope, not one vote in fact Hope lost votes from the first round held on Sunday, March 20.
Voters on Saint Martin gave a clear indication as to who they wanted to manage their affairs in the first round even though the lead was narrow, yet Generation Hope, Saint Martin Avec Vous, and Avenir Saint Martin find themselves attending a meeting organized by former President of the Collectivity Louis Constant Fleming who wanted to put together an alliance to beat RSM and TEAM GIBBS 2022. Also invited to that meeting was Alternative who opted to call out the organizers of what was described as a “coup” against the highest vote-getters of the first round of the election.

On Sunday 52.23% of the registered voters headed to the polling stations and cast their votes, of that amount 49.11% voted in favor of the RSMA coalition. There are 18,997 registered voters of which 9,993 persons voted.

President-Elect Loui Mussington is a well-known St. Martiner who began his career as a political activist at the early age of 16. Mussington contested his first island council election in 1995 on the list Together for Saint Martin headed by Guillaume Arnell. In 1998 he was elected General Councilor.
Mussington continued his political career when he contested the elections in 1998 under the MAP umbrella, this time the list was headed by former President Alain Richardson. In 2004 he was elected Regional Councilor. In 2007 he contested the election on the RRR slate while in 2012 on the MAP slate, in 2017 Justice and Prosperity slate, and in 2022 on the Rassemblement Saint Martin. Clearly, Loui Mussington never gave up on his people, he contested almost every election from 1995 until he was elected in 2022 as the President of the Collectivity of Saint Martin.
On the RSMA slate there were two former Presidents they are Frantz Gumbs and Alain Richardson among them is Dr. Michel Petit, a man with a stellar career that has served his people for 40 years as a medical professional. Dr. Petit is also a known businessman on Saint Martin who placed his personal businesses on the back burner to now serve his country and to ensure that medical facilities on Saint Martin are up to par. Dr. Petit has said that he will ensure that a daycare center is in place for the elderly while he would focus heavily on the social aspects that are affecting both the young and old at Saint Martin.
The new Territorial Council will be sworn in on Sunday, April 3rd. 2022. The President of the Collectivity of St. Martin will then be elected by the 23 members Territorial Council members while the executive council would also be put in place.
RSMA will be awarded 16 seats, TEAM Gibbs 5 seats, and Generation Hope will receive 2 seats.
