SXM to host 6th annual 3-day CaribAvia Summit.

caribava13062022PHILIPSBURG:--- Redeveloping routes to bring back airlifts to the Caribbean in high numbers and bridging the gap between tourism boards and airports are the primal focus of this year’s CaribAvia Conference.

This year marks six years since the group of Caribbean aviation experts and tourism product developers started gathering to foster improvements in the aviation industry and tourism for the Caribbean region.

Opening remarks will be delivered today Tuesday, June 14th at the Simpson Bay Resort Ballroom by the honorable Prime Minister of St. Maarten Silveria Jacobs representing the Ministry of Tourism Economic Affairs Transportation and Telecommunications.

As St. Maarten continues to serve as a hub for the North-Eastern Caribbean region, the St. Maarten Tourism Bureau has decided to continue to partner with CaribAVIA as one of the objectives of the tourism bureau is to strengthen the airline development and improve the airline network with the approximately 40 million people living in the entire Caribbean region.

Benefits of the CaribAvia event include; reinforcing that the island is open for business and is able to host meetings, fostering & strengthing relationships through partnerships between travel, tourism, and aviation, and providing valuable exposure for the destination in the aviation/travel and tourism industry, which could result in additional airlift/seat capacity from existing or emerging source markets.

The event will last three days, ending on June 16th, and is expected to be attended by the local experts within the travel, aviation, and tourism field. The event will feature several key addresses from renowned aviation experts from the region. Among those delivering addresses will be Ryan Waguespeck, Washington, Senior Vice President, NATA - National Air Transportation Association in the USA who will speak about the impact of Private Aviation on Island Economies.

Chairman and Founder of InterCaribbean Airways Lyndon Gardiner from the Turks & Caicos Islands will speak about the Development of Regional Air Transportation in the Caribbean.

Other speakers at the conference include Gregor Nassief Roseau, of Commonwealth of Dominica and CEO, proprietor, and developer of Secret Bay, as well as Executive Chairman of Fort Young Hotel. He will be speaking about the development of the Worlds best Boutique Resort, while the Director of Business and Product Development at Ampaire Brice Nzeukou Hawthorne, will lead the discussion on Practical and Compelling Electric Aircraft for the Caribbean Region.

Other topics to be discussed during the three-day event include Personal Travel Security, the impact of the recently held ROUTES conference, and the impact of investments in aviation in the Caribbean.

A key topic of discussion this year is Building Back - The Vision of Route Development Post-Pandemic and Bringing Tourism Boards & Airports Closer Together.

The CaribAvia conference continues to be the only regional tourism, travel, and aviation conference for the Caribbean Region. The objective of this conference is to help mitigate the lack of sustainable airlift/seat capacity within the region, attract/increase international airlift/seat capacity, establish affordable fares, and regulate airport/departure taxes to name a few. The Government of Sint Maarten is pleased to continue the support of the CaribAvia conference and will facilitate where possible the execution of the outlined objectives.
