~ Employment in recession as youths worry about tomorrow.~
MARIGOT:---President of the Collectivity of Saint Martin calls on the population to embrace change with determination as it is required to improve the lives of all.
He also encouraged the inhabitants to enjoy the Marigot Fete or Fete de la Bastille as it has been reborn from its ashes.
The newly elected president said that the economic and social situation remains somewhat tense on the island while employment is in recession, training seems to be struggling to meet the real needs of the market, and young people are worried about tomorrow, but he is hopeful that things will improve.
“Tourism remains the backbone of our economy and despite what those who keep saying that we are doing nothing say about it and think about it, we are working on defining a long-term recovery strategy.”
“If I have hope that tomorrow will be better, it is because we are working on it.
Obviously, it is the national holiday and therefore the whole nation celebrates this day of victory that July 14 represents in the history of France.
On July 14, 1789, the French people finally gained recognition that had hitherto been denied them.
In 1789, the French people finally achieved this freedom, this equality, this fraternity which allowed a real development of the men and women of France and the birth of a society which today makes the particularity and the strength of the Republic.”
The national holiday is not a moment of individualism and selfishness but a moment of rallying, a moment when the patriot takes the lead to express his pride, his pride in being French or French to the rest of the world who observed.
Someone said that to be French “is to believe in the emancipation of individuals and peoples. It is to be the heir to a history, a heritage, or geography. Have faith in the elevation to the rank of citizenship by the school and in a world organization of nations.
“It is true, that the French Constitution recognizes the right to differentiation, and it is in favor of a more representative, responsible, and efficient democracy. That said, it sets itself the objective of clarifying, in the most concrete way possible and starting from the projects of the local authorities, the scope of these provisions and the possibilities they open up.
For of Saint-Martin, the notions of Liberty, Fraternity and Equality are concepts charged with local history and national history.
La Liberté is the only space that allows harmonious, responsible, and sustainable development.
For example, freedom of enterprise, student aid, holiday jobs, relay workshops, etc.). It is also the fight against insecurity.
Equality is the very foundation of freedom. It alone allows for greater security, greater social balance, and greater justice.
But the enjoyment of these rights entails responsibilities and duties towards others and towards the island, Saint-Martin.
He said he is thinking in particular of the fight against exclusions, of a possible reform of the education system in Saint-Martin for greater equality of children in the face of international requirements, etc.)
Fraternity is the only feeling that can establish between the different communities of Saint-Martin, a closer and more united union. It alone can allow the development of common values, of universal human values.
He invited the entire population to position themselves so that our Saint-Martinoise society can live again. “I want us to learn again to respect this diversity of cultures and traditions that make us so rich.”
Tomorrow will only be what we are capable of making of it and success only belongs to those who work with conviction and common sense.
On this July 14, 2022, I appeal to all the inhabitants of Saint-Martin solemnly ask that everyone do their part, that everyone participates in the development of an environment where it will be good to live whatever the age.
Today I invite all people of goodwill to join the cause of our territory and ensure that we find the outcome that is most favorable to all its inhabitants.
The republic is our business. So let us see that she lives and lives long.
