~ Board members at loggerheads with the reappointment of Daniel as TM, and installation of the Crisis Management team~
PHILIPSBURG:--- Reliable information reaching SMN News on Monday evening states that at least two members of the Supervisory Board of Directors of NV GEBE have tendered their resignation.
The first to submit her letter of resignation is Lela Simmons who indicated that the management team of NV GEBE was not held sufficiently accountable, and that management was not communicating sufficiently with the public of St. Maarten. SMN News further understands that Simmons removed herself from the SBOD of NV GEBE because she is very much concerned about her corporate image since she works at Port St. Maarten. These were the same concerns shared by Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs on Friday when she reported to parliament.
SMN News further learned that the Chairman of the SBOD Anastasio Baker resigned Monday evening when the board met to reappoint Sharine Daniel as the Temporary Manager of the company.
According to reliable information reaching SMN News, the SBOD members are split down the middle since there were six members on the board and not seven as prescribed.
The sources said that Anastasio Baker, Lela Simmons, and Denicio Boasman support the decisions taken by the Council of Ministers to appoint an Independent Temporary Manager and a Crisis Management Team while Sharine Daniel is under investigation.
According to the sources, Dimar Labega, Vanessa Fraser, and Emmanuel Tony Brooks are solely in favor of Sharine Daniel even though complaints are mounting.
SMN News further learned that if a member of the SBOD is not present when decisions are being taken then it will either be in favor of the Temporary Managers or the Council of Ministers (Shareholders). The three members that support the shareholder wanted to appoint an independent temporary manager and the crisis management team while the team that supports Daniel refused because they are afraid that the crisis management team or Independent Manager will push out Daniel.
On Friday when the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Silveria Jacobs attended the parliament she made a presentation that clearly states that the instructions given to the Supervisory Board of Directors are as follows.
- Assign Temporary & Independent Management (Assign immediately a temporary and independent manager to ensure continuity of NV GEBE.
- Assign Crisis Management Team
- Independent Investigation (Procure and conduct an independent investigation into the past few months.
- Inform Shareholder in a timely and frequent on the measures and actions taken.
SMN News also learned on Monday that Andrew Zagers was offered the Temporary Manager’s position even though that would not have met the conditions of the COM but Zagers the source said declined the offer because in his view the company’s mismanagement is too far gone. Andrew Zagers is the account manager of NV GEBE who it is alleged is very close to Sharine Daniel.
SMN News reported on the mismanagement of NV GEBE by the two temporary managers namely Merril Temmer who is currently on medical leave and Sharine Daniel. Most of the concerns shared by employees are how the two handled the March 16th cyber-attack, which was basically hidden from the employees for about two to three days and the prosecutors' office and police department denied entry to conduct an investigation.
Questions are also being raised on the retainer contracts that have been issued while the company may soon face bankruptcy.
It is yet to be seen what actions the Council of Ministers will take against the 4 remaining board members or if politics will be given priority over the people's business.
SMN News learned that Labega has hinted in the National Alliance chats that he would be leaving the National Alliance for the next election. It is further understood that he will join forces with the UPP.
