PHILIPSBURG:--- Former senior Carnival queen Estika Halley was seriously stabbed on Sunday, July 31 this year by her ex-partner. The incident happened in the early hours when a culprit allegedly stabbed the young lady and left her near the Emeral Funeral home in Cay Hill. According to the prosecutor's office on Monday, the so-called pro forma/pre-trial hearing, in this case, will take place on November 3 and the suspect M.B. (38) will be charged with Attempted Murder and Manslaughter Aggravated assault.
A pre-trial hearing is usually to make a schedule for when the court case will be dealt with. The Court will indicate how much time the Judge needs to discuss the case file documents with the accused, the Prosecution will indicate how long they will need for the indictment, and the defense will indicate how much time the plea session will take. The pre-trial is also important for the defense to make any (further) requests.
The Court will ultimately decide which research activities will still have to take place and that will ultimately determine when and where the trial of the case will take place and how the program will look at that point in time. According to early police reports concerning the tragic incident, “Police received a call from the hospital around 6:00 am Sunday. The suspect fled the scene in the victim’s car which was found in French Quarter on Sunday afternoon. It was covered in blood. M.B. was seen walking into the police station in Philipsburg around noon Sunday. Police reported at 2:19 pm: “Suspect involved in the stabbing incident was arrested a short time ago.”
Meanwhile, supporters of Halley are asking persons to come out and purchase shirts in support of her brutal ordeal. The shirt is styled with the words “Eliminate violence Justice for Estika. Halley was crowned TelCell Senior Carnival Queen back in 2016.
