Island wide road repairs underway.

~ Residents asked to report not working streetlights.~

jurendydoran26062022PHILIPSBURG: --- The Minister of VROMI and Deputy Prime Minister Egbert Jurendy Doran announced on Wednesday at the Council of Ministers press conference that the road patching has begun. Doran said the much-needed road repair has been completed in the Cole Bay area, Orange Grove, and Well Road.
The Minister said a special concrete mix was used which allowed the team to quickly patch the roads, these road patchings is being done by the staff of the Ministry of VROMI. Doran further explained that the ministry is busy finalizing the advice for the major road resurfacing project, this project is for the repaving of long road stretches and the painting of the white lines.
The Minister said as soon as the budget amendments are passed by parliament then the side roads and some other roads will be repaired.
Asked by SMN News if the road repairs would be completed in time for the high season, Doran said that the project will begin within the coming weeks since the tender has been completed.
Regarding streetlights that are not working, the Minister asked the residents to report not working lights by emailing the ministry. He said that there is an agreement with the Ministry of VROMI and GEBE have an agreement in place to repair and replace all streetlights.
With regards to the Prins Bernard Bridge, he said the tenders are now being evaluated so that the work on the bridge can begin.
