PHILIPSBURG:--- Acting Minister of TEATT Omar Ottley said on Wednesday in response to questions about the reconstruction of the Airport Terminal that focus is now being placed on the completion of the Departure Hall since it is predicted that the season will be very busy.
The Acting Minister said that they are working on a high-level plan for the season which would facilitate the expected crowd.
He said PJIAE has since taken over the EHAS booths that will be used to facilitate a quicker turnaround time. Ottley said that the decision was taken to have the airport constructed in a phased approach.
Ottley said a meeting with PJIAE, and the shareholder is scheduled for Thursday and the government wants to see the Departure Hall ready for the season. He said to get this accomplished the workforce will be expanded.
The Minister who is the Minister of Labor said that a job fair will be held shortly and that he is looking into granting a grace period for skilled workers. He made clear that government will do everything possible to facilitate the airport most importantly the departure hall which is needed to give visitors a good impression.
