PHILIPSBURG: --- The two suspects whose homes were searched both in Curacao and St. Maarten said they are flabbergasted with the house searches that were conducted by the RST both on St. Maarten and Curacao. Former Minister of TEATT Ted Richardson told SMN News that the detectives went to his home in Curacao and conducted the searches without a warrant, he further explained that the detectives took a Breitling watch while they seized items in his home.”
Richardson said when his wife asked the detectives for the warrant to search her home, she was told that no warrant is needed for the search and that the so-called warrant will come after, besides that he said they seized a Breitling watch, and he wants to know what a watch has to do with fraud and forgery or money laundering. The detectives also took my phone, but they brought it back on Tuesday.
Richardson said when the detectives interviewed him, they never asked him about money or how he earns a living, he is of the opinion that he is being victimized by the justice system. “I was never on any board of Government-owned companies and my term as a Minister of TEATT ended in 2015. They said the fraud and forgery were committed in 2016.
“I was the Minister of TEATT from 2013 to 2015, and I have no political ambition, so in my view, they are busy scandalizing my name and this will damage my business as I am currently negotiating contracts and this search will surely impact the negotiations,” Richardson said he will be taking legal action because the warrant that was issued to search my home in Middle Region did not state for what I am being investigated or which company I defrauded. It states that I am being investigated for fraud and money laundering, but no one tells me at which company.” It has since been revealed that the investigation has to do with fraud and forgery at NV GEBE.
George Willem the former Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of APS said that he no longer works for APS 2017. He said since then he has never worked for any other government own company, and neither was he on any board of any government-owned company.
Willem said that he applied for a job at NV GEBE and has never worked there, he explained that he has never entered GEBE as an employee and never had access to anything from the company. He said he signed the contract with NV GEBE but has never worked for the company. Willem explained that he challenged the results of the screening and NV GEBE because the company has never told him anything while he already signed a contract there. He is of the opinion that he is no longer wanted at NV GEBE but the company has to officially inform him about his status. Willem said he believed he is being scandalized and intended to take legal action.
Willem explained that the only government-owned company he applied for a job at was NV GEBE and he believes that the Prosecutors mixed up people because it is the only government-owned company that had a “Richardson” on the Supervisory Board of Directors while he applied for a job there. “We were not told anything about which company we defrauded or laundered money but we have since aligned the dots and come to the conclusion that it relates to NV GEBE.
He explained that he too was never on any board of Government-owned companies. “How could I be suspected of Fraud and forgery or embezzlement while I never worked at NV GEBE. I am just a candidate that has been waiting for a job for the past two years while I still have to live and pay bills he explained.
