Africans Rescued from capsized Boat off St. Kitts.

~32, onboard, 16 rescued, 3 dead while the search continues for missing.~

Basseterre St Kitts:--- About half the number of people on board a vessel that capsized southeast of St. Kitts were rescued, according to information received from the St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guard.
In a press conference held on 28th March, Lt. Col. Anthony Comrie, Commander of the St. Kitts-Nevis Defense Force Coast Guard Unit provided an update on the situation, including the number of persons rescued and bodies recovered.

“Sixteen persons were rescued, two were Antiguans, 14 are from Camroon while the identity and nationalities of the dead are not yet known.

The vessel was carrying about 32 people, most of them Cameroonians who were living in Antigua. It is now understood that the vessel was heading to the United States Virgin Islands. It is understood that 16 persons were rescued, and three bodies were recovered. The boat originally came from Guadeloupe and stayed for some time in Antigua. The distress call was picked up by the Martinique Maritime Centre which then rebroadcast the distress in English that was picked up by the St. Kitts-Nevis Coast Guards and the Antigua and Barbuda Coast Guard.

In the meantime another vessel was found on Wednesday morning in the Baie Nettle in Saint Martin, source say that a pregnant woman was onboard the vessel.
The Gendarmerie has not released any information about the mysterious boat discovered on St. Martin as they are busy with their investigation.
