Princess Juliana International Airport Commences Annual Rescue and Firefighters’ Week Celebrations – Honoring 26 Years of Dedicated Service

Since its inception in 2015, Rescue and Firefighter's Week has become a much-anticipated event, aiming to acknowledge and appreciate the tireless efforts of the airport's rescue and firefighting personnel and emphasize their health and safety.

The week-long celebration, which runs from July 23, 2023, to July 28, 2023, will encompass a diverse range of activities and events specially curated to recognize the invaluable contributions of the dedicated rescue- and fire station employees. Throughout the week, various programs have been arranged to not only commend their exemplary service but also to promote their well-being and welfare.

"Rescue- and Firefighter's Week at Princess Juliana International Airport is a time-honored tradition that allows us to express our gratitude and admiration for the extraordinary work carried out by the department," said Fire Captain Mr. Mauricio Webster. "Their selfless dedication to ensuring the safety of our passengers, airport personnel, and facilities is truly commendable. This week is an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments and commitment."

One of the highlights of Firefighter's Week is the captivating firefighting demonstrations conducted by the airport's skilled rescue- and firefighters. Open to the public, these awe-inspiring displays will take place in front of the terminal building, offering a glimpse into the intensity and precision required to combat aviation-related emergencies.

"It is essential for us to engage with the public during this week and demonstrate the capabilities of our firefighting team," stated Fire Chief Mr. Manilo Penijn, the Head of the Rescue and Firefighting department at Princess Juliana International Airport. "These demonstrations not only educate the public about our operations but also instill confidence in our passengers, assuring them that they are in safe hands when traveling through our airport."
