PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports (MECYS) Hon. Rodolphe Samuel, would like to inform all parents, students, guardians, and school staff, that all schools are to be closed on Monday, August 21 due to inclement weather.
The minister's statement reads as follows: “On behalf of the Government of Sint Maarten, after consultation with the Meteorological Office of Sint Maarten, kindly take note of the following.
“Given the developments regarding the current inclement weather and the saturation experienced, especially with the flooding of roads today Sunday, August 20, 2023, which is forecasted to continue through Sunday evening and possibly Monday morning, you are hereby notified that: All schools will be closed on Monday, August 21, 2023.
“The situation will be monitored, and if an extension is deemed necessary, you will be informed accordingly.”
