EXCLUSIVE: UPP gave Maingrette ultimatum to either apologize to the people of St. Maarten or resign.

~ Maingrette is yet to resign from his politically appointed job in the cabinet of TEATT.~

kevinmaingrette25102023PHILIPSBURG:--- The board of the United Peoples Party gave their former member and candidate Kevin Maingrette the opportunity to apologize to the people of St. Maarten especially the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Silveria Jacobs or resign from the United Peoples Party (UPP) when they realized that he was one of the persons leaking false information to his friend and compatriot businessman Olivier Arrindell.

SMN News learned from reliable sources that the UPP board members told Maingrette to do an interview on one of the island’s radio stations and apologize for his role in causing several persons in government to be defamed and slandered by Arrindell. They claimed that several persons including the UPP leader have been accused of leaking information to Arrindell when the real culprit was Maingrette.
However, on October 4th, 2023, Maingrette opted to post a video on social media claiming that he would not accept any endorsement from anyone but at no point did he mention Arrindell’s name. He also said in that video that he was not going anywhere and would be contesting the January 2024 parliamentary elections on the UPP slate.
On Tuesday, October 25th, 2023 Maingrette opted to resign instead of apologizing to those whose names had been slandered via WhatsApp by his friend.
By Wednesday, a radio station on Saint Martin posted a flyer announcing that Maingrette would be on that radio station with the NOW leader Christopher Emmanuel.

While Maingrette submitted a letter of resignation to the UPP Party leader, he has yet to resign from the politically appointed position he holds in the cabinet of the Minister of TEATT.
In his resignation letter, he thanked the UPP and its members for the opportunities he has had over the years since joining the UPP. He further stated that after careful consideration and thought he realized that his personal beliefs and values no longer aligned with those of the UPP party. He claimed that different avenues within the party have been explored to effect change that he believes were necessary but he was not successful in doing so.
