PHILIPSBURG: ---- The Voting Bureau assigned the numbers and colors on Thursday to the nine political parties contesting the August 19th Parliamentary Elections.
Chairlady of the Voting Bureau Nathalie Tackling announced the numbers as the following and how they will be appearing on the ballots on August 19th, 2024.
1. Soualiga Action Movement (SAM) with the color Orange and number 1
2. National Alliance (N.A) with the color White and number 2
3. Empire Culture Empowerment Association (ECE) with the color Purple and number 3
4. Democratic Party with the color Red with the number 4
5. Oualichi Movement for Change (OMC) with the color Grey with number 5
6. Nation, Opportunity Wealth (NOW) with the color Yellow and number 6
7. United Peoples Party (UPP) with the color green and number 7
8. Party for Progress with the color Gold and number 8
9. Unified Resilient St. Maarten Movement (URSM) with the color TEAL and number 9
The entrance of the Parliament of St. Maarten had several police officers securing the building, as the Leader of OMC, who was shot Wednesday night, was in the Parliament Building where the colors and numbers were being assigned.
