PHILIPSBURG:--- The St Maarten Famers Cooperative, as always, would like to thank the general public first and foremost for showing their continuous support to the Farmers Market Project.
The Farmers Market is slowly growing to be a place where community members meet, greet, and dialog about concerns that surround their communities while being able to get their hands on a wide range of local and regional produce, snacks, soup, gardening supplies, and natural juices.
Community members came out in full force at the last Farmers Market to add a bit of life to the landscape by painting the pathway rocks, making them more visible and access-friendly for the elders in the community.
Members of SMFC also started to cultivate the landscape at the Farmer's Market in an effort to increase crop production over the next few months. They added a few plantain trees as their first step, and over the next few weeks, some okra and season pepper plants will also be incorporated.
Community members can look forward to enjoying the landscape transformation of the Farmers Market into a garden space that will soon deliver freshly harvested produce to their baskets.
Come out and support your local Farmers and product developers as we strive for the balance of life and welcome community members once again this Saturday, Aug 10, 2024, to SMFC's Farmers Market located on LB Scott Rd across the St Maarten Academy Bus stop.
