Allegations of sexual harassment at Pointe Blanche Prison.

~UNOPS employee alleges that a member of management sexually harasses her. ~

PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of Justice Lyndon Lewis said on Wednesday that he previously mentioned that allegedly there are criminal activities and several other unrests taking place at Pointe Blanche Prison.
Lewis said he was informed that the executive branch of the Ministry of Justice had informed him that there is possible sexual harassment against a UNOPS personnel and that the matter is now being looked into at the current time.
The Minister said that based on his understanding, a member of the management of the Pointe Blanche Prison has said it would either be UNOPS or the member of the management who is sexually harassing the UNOPS personnel that has to leave.
Lewis said he was approached on the day he left the island to go to Europe to attend to family matters, and now that he has returned, he has this matter on his agenda to deal with.
The Minister of Justice made it clear that he takes his work very seriously and that matters such as these will be investigated as long as he is informed.
The Minister further explained that after meeting with the prison, UNOPS, the staff bureau, and the crime fund representatives (Secretary General of Justice), he would be able to say whether or not the two million euros allocated for the prison renovations had been secured.
