New clearance formalities in the French West Indies islands.

MARIGOT:--- Clearance” formalities, obligatory for the entry and exit of pleasure craft sailing in the French West Indies islands (Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Barthélémy, and Saint-Martin), are modified.
On July 4, 2023, the prefect of Martinique, a government delegate for state action at sea, adopted a decree known as a “clearance order” relating to declarative formalities for anchoring and parking in the territorial waters of the departments and communities of Martinique, Guadeloupe, Saint-Martin, and Saint-Barthélemy, for pleasure craft coming from or going abroad.
This decree requires navigators to carry out clearance formalities at an approved point when they arrive from abroad and when they leave abroad. These clearances, monitored by Customs, aim to understand better the entry and exit movements of pleasure craft sailing in the Antilles maritime zone and to better identify, prior to their entry into French territorial seas, the vessels likely to engage in illicit activities by sea.
