EXCLUSIVE: Minister of ECYS turns over decision of former Minister on PWAS Management.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of ECYS Mellissa Gumbs dispatched a memo today at the Prince Willem Alexandre School (PWAS) informing the management that she has put in place a new Interim and Co-management Team at PWAS, SMN News has been reliably informed.
The letter from the current Minister of ECYS, Mellissa Gumbs, was registered at DIV on December 23rd, 2024, but was delivered today, January 6th, 2025. Gumbs, in her letter, said that she had decided to withdraw the decision taken by the former Minister to transfer Ms. Barry from PWAS and place her at the Sint Maarten Vocational School while placing Ms. Elizabeth as the interim director of PWAS. The Minister's decision took immediate effect.
To ensure that the daily operations continues the Minister has since appointed a co-management team consisting of Ms. Esther Jeffers- Cannegieter Manager of the Ruby Labega School and Mrs. Alice Girigoria Samuel, the school manager of Lionel Conner School, the two will be the interim managers at PWAS until further notice.
In the meantime, the Minister has launched an independent investigation into all matters relating to the Prince Willem Alexander School, which she said is to ensure that all decisions taken align with good governance. The investigation is scheduled to begin in January 2025. After the investigation and a reports are submitted to the Minister, a decision will be made regarding the management team of Prince Willem Alexander School (PWAS).
