From January 22 till 31, the Caribbean Djokja training takes place on the island of Curaçao. More than 120 soldiers and 30 means of transportation from Defense will be in this training all over the island. The participating soldiers are part of the ‘Compagnie in de West’, a troop unit from Defense in the Caribbean Region, which rotates every four months. This troop unit, the so-called ‘13 Delta Compagnie’, has been stationed in Curaçao since November 2024.
The exercises consist of two parts; a Field Training Exercise (FTX) and a Live Fire Exercise (LFX). The exercise scenarios take place in several locations, such as at the Hato plains, Fuik Bay, Koraal Tabak, St. Cruz, and Wacao. The soldiers will be moving around between the locations with military vehicles and will be sleeping at strategic places spread all around the island. Curaçao offers challenging circumstances, such as the warm climate and diverse landscapes, which are perfect to prepare the soldiers for real missions. By training on unknown territory, the soldiers will learn how th switch rapidly and to better cooperate during complex situations. During the Caribbean Djokja the soldiers will better their battle techniques, they will apply better technologies and optimize collaboration. Thanks to these types of exercises the soldiers can act flexibly and effectively, when and where that is necessary.
