~ Issues of Suicide are increasing. ~
PHILIPSBURG: --- The Minister of Justice Nathalie Tackling announced on Wednesday that the Police Force on St. Maarten has noticed an increased amount of people who are expressing suicidal thoughts over the past two months. The Minister said that the Mental Health resources in St. Maarten are limited, she said the matter of mental issue is a critical issue and it required everyone to step up.
The minister called to all families and friends to check in with loved ones or friends because sometimes a simple conversation or the knowledge that someone cares is already enough to make a difference to those suffering.
Tackling also urged persons who need assistance as it relates to their mental health to reach out to the resources that are available locally.
