SMFC Famers Market this Saturday at St Peters Community Center.

farmersmarket07022025St Peters:--- SMFC expresses heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming turn out by community members for our first Farmers Market at the new location in St Peters at the Rupert Maynard Community Youth Center.
We invite community members and the general public to come out this Saturday, Feb 8, 2025, for another amazing day full of wholesome food, products, and positive community engagement.
‘’At the farmers market, there is always something for everyone, once you get there early,’’ Wyatte expressed
Community members are urged to come out as early as 9 am to get their first picks as the marketplace tends to get a bit crowded, leaving limited items behind for those who may tend to get out of the house a bit later than usual. As the saying goes,‘’ Early bird catches the worm’’.
The Farmers Market is more than just a place to come and get your local fresh produce, products, or plants. It’s a place where community members come out and engage in meaningful discussions that help to shape the future of the marketplace, items available, and community.
SMFC will also assist the community center with the cleanup of the surrounding area, playground, and basketball court, ensuring that the community and the children always have a clean, safe space to enjoy.
SMFC once again would like to thank the general public for supporting the Farmers Market. Your support continues to demonstrate the need for positive community development, engagement, and agricultural \ product sustainability.
The relocation of the Farmers Market to the Community Center in St Peters offers community members access to more parking and restrooms and children accompanying parents a bit more space to run around.
This Saturday, SMFC Farmers Market will once again offer a wide variety of produce and products from dedicated community farmers and product developers. The variety of items available this weekend will be fresh cold press juices, banana bread, baked pumpkin jonny cakes with chickpeas, coco sticks, coconut oil, fresh eggs, veggie soup, plants, gardening materials, and locally made natural soaps, skin \ body care products.

Fresh Produce available this week from our local and regional farmers will be season peppers, cherry tomatoes, avocado, plantain, carrots, pumpkin, cucumbers, sweet potato, papaya, pineapple lettuce, salad mix, callaloo, tabled, basil, mint, lemon grass, big leaf thyme, curry leaves, and bay leaf.
SMFC continues to network with local and regional farming partners, focusing on increasing crop production, which in the long term aims to balance off consumer costs and allow more quality goods to be directly distributed to community members at a reduction in cost.
Over the next 3 months, we are proud to announce that carrots, cucumbers, pumpkin, and season peppers will be our focus crops, and we will be able to provide these four crop types sustainably to our marketplace. With proper planning and feedback from community members, the mission is to continue adding more additional crop types and locally produced items to the Farmers Market.
SMFC continues to extend its wholehearted gratitude to community members that support the Farmers Market, We are truly grateful to be a part of the positive and sustainable change agriculture can bring to our communities and its members.
SMFC Looks forward to the continuous enhancement of the Farmers Market Place experience for community members and visitors to enjoy. See you on Saturday, Feb 8, 2025, from 9 am to 2 pm, at the Rupert Maynard Community Center, St Peters.
