PHILIPSBURG: --- The Secretary General of the Ministry of VROMI has advised the Minister of VROMI Patrice Gumbs that he denies the infrastructure permit for Indigo Bay since no environmental impact study has been done on the area.
SMN News asked the Minister of VROMI to explain the reasoning behind the request for an Environmental Impact Study, knowing that Indigo Bay is fully developed with side roads and other infrastructure.
Gumbs said that developers have excavated large amount of land while there is no environmental impact study done, The Minister said that the discussions surrounding the issue of Indigo Bay are fruitful and ongoing, these developers are very much open to correct the things that were done wrong in the past.
The Minister further explained that he is busy implementing the correct processes for specific things. The minister explained that they discovered several improper things, such as excavating the hillside and removing sediments.
Gumbs said the Environmental Impact Study will be conducted independently and paid for by the developers.
