PHILIPSBURG:--- The Police Force of Sint Maarten (KPSM) continues to crack down hard on criminal activity across the island. On Monday, June 23, 2025, officers made three arrests in two separate cases and also seized two illegal firearms over the weekend.
The first arrest took place at the Miss Lalie Center in Cay Bay during the early morning hours, about 10.00 am. A male suspect with the initials L.Y.L. was caught trying to smuggle drugs into the facility. The drugs were hidden inside a deodorant bottle. Officers acted quickly, arrested the suspect, and brought him to the Philipsburg Police Station. He is now in custody and being questioned. The investigation is still ongoing.
Later that same morning, around 10:30 AM, a man approached officers and told them he had just seen his stolen Hyundai H-1 pickup being driven toward Philipsburg. Police immediately responded and stopped the vehicle on W.J.A. Nisbeth Road. Inside the pickup were two men, who were arrested on the spot. The suspects, with the initials J.A.P.-E. and C.P.C., were taken to the police station and are currently being held for questioning.
In addition to these arrests, KPSM confiscated two firearms over the weekend during routine controls across the island. KPSM wants to make it very clear that any individual encountered during controls owning an illegal firearm will be arrested and dealt with severely.
The issue of illegal guns is putting the safety of our island in danger. KPSM officers are out daily, working hard to remove these weapons from our streets — but we also need the public’s help.
