MARIGOT:--- In the late hours of Monday, July 28, 2025, a traffic accident occurred on Route de Savanne, near the entrance of Grand Case. The incident, which took place at approximately 10:35 PM, involved a vehicle overturning, leading to minor injuries for the occupants.
The overturned vehicle was carrying three individuals, including the driver and two passengers. While the driver sustained no serious injuries and was sober, the passengers, who had been picked up as hitchhikers, were found to be under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
According to reports, the passengers exhibited aggressive behavior during the ride. This caused a disturbance that led the driver to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in it flipping onto its roof. Despite the severity of the situation, all individuals escaped with minor injuries.
Following the accident, emergency services quickly arrived on the scene. Both passengers were transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation, while the driver was accompanied safely back to her residence. Authorities have confirmed that the driver tested negative for both alcohol and drugs and was cooperative throughout the process.
A Reminder of the Risks
This incident highlights the potential dangers of driving with disruptive passengers. While the driver’s conduct was responsible and consistent with traffic laws, the behavior of intoxicated passengers created unsafe conditions, ultimately leading to the crash.
Traffic authorities continue to stress the importance of vigilance on the road and encourage all road users to make safe, informed decisions to prevent such incidents.
Further investigations into the accident may follow to ensure proper accountability where necessary.
