Parliament Meeting on St. Maarten General Hospital Rescheduled.

richinelbrug02022026PHILIPSBURG:--- The House of Parliament has announced a change in the timing of the Urgent Public Meeting No. 15, which was scheduled for today, Wednesday, April 1, 2026.

The meeting, which will address deliberations with Minister of Public Health, Social Development, and Labor Richinel Brug regarding the current state of affairs of the St. Maarten General Hospital, has been rescheduled from 14:00hrs to 15:00hrs.

The session was requested by Members of Parliament O.E.C. Ottley, L.C.J. Lewis, and F.A. Lacroes under agenda point document IS/775/2025-2026 dated March 4, 2026.

Earlier today, it was reported that Minister Brug had informed the Chairlady of Parliament that he was unable to attend the originally scheduled session due to illness. It remains to be seen whether the Minister will be present at the newly scheduled time.

The meeting comes amid ongoing scrutiny of the operations and management of the St. Maarten General Hospital, as well as broader political developments surrounding the Minister’s position.
