Incumbent Senator Annick Pétrus received three votes in the first round; a second ballot is scheduled for this afternoon.
MARIGOT:--- No candidate secured the required majority in the first round of Saint-Martin’s senatorial election on Sunday, September 27. Valérie Damaseau led with 11 of the 25 votes cast, while incumbent Senator Annick Pétrus received three.
Daniel Gibbs received six votes, Raphaël Sanchez four, Bernadette Venthou-Dumaine one, and Tristan Choppin Haudry de Janvry none.
All 25 registered members of the electoral college voted. Every ballot was valid, with no blank ballots. A candidate needed at least 13 votes, an absolute majority, to win in the first round.
A second round is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today. Candidates from the first round may stand again but must submit their nominations to the prefecture by 3:00 p.m. The candidate receiving the most votes in the second round will be elected senator.
