PHILIPSBURG:--- Last Sunday, residents of Beaver Drive got together and took action to improve the unpaved section of their street. Fed up with the deteriorating condition of the street, particularly when it rains and water settles and undermines the road, a small committee met and agreed to approach residents to pool funds for a worthy community initiative. Linda & Frank Moise, Jovanie Stapleton, Carl Richardson, Juan Richardson and Rolando Tobias coordinated the project.
Work began early Sunday morning, with a loader leveling the road, followed by compacting the loose dirt to ensure the street's long-term viability. Main coordinator Linda Moise said the road improvement initiative succeeded through a public-private partnership. Residents and business owners on Beaver Drive were willing to contribute to improve the street. She expressed appreciation to everyone who contributed and helped create an improved street for all who use it. She also thanked the committee members who took time on a Sunday to coordinate the project.
